This poor opening weekend result could be the result of many different factors, including Rotten Tomatoes score and Miller’s daughter a controversial age gap storyline. However, he does not necessarily reflect anything damaging about Ortega’s ability to direct a successful film. The star, who has hits like Shout, Scream VIAnd X to its credit, looks poised to dominate the box office again later in 2024.

Scream VI is Jenna Ortega’s highest-grossing film to date, with a worldwide total of $169 million.

by Ortega the most promising upcoming project is that of Tim Burton Beetle juice 2, in which she plays Delia Deetz, the daughter of Winona Ryder’s returning character Lydia. This film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, is the long-awaited sequel to the director’s 1988 hit starring Michael Keaton. While it remains to be seen how much the new film will gross at the box office, the original opened to $8 million ($21 million when adjusted for inflation), so even if the sequel only matches this figure rather than surpassing it, it will provide its star with box office redemption.

Ortega will also follow the film Miller’s daughter reprising his title role in the upcoming Wednesday season 2. Although this project is a Netflix show and therefore has no relation to the domestic box office, it will help increase her star power in the meantime while she prepares for other film roles in come. Overall, the poor performance in this new drama probably won’t hurt the star’s future career.
