Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra is Skydance’s Captain America/Black Panther game coming next year

Skydance New Media’s mysterious World War II Marvel game has a title: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. It also has its first trailer and a release window.

First announced in 2022, the game stars Captain America and Black Panther Azzuri, who is T’Challa’s grandfather. The trailer shows them pursuing the common goal of defeating the Nazis/Hydra, albeit for their own personal reasons. Coming from different worlds, neither particularly likes the other’s methods, which leads them into conflict. The game also stars Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos and Wakanda’s spy leader, Nanali. First revealed at GDC, check out its first cinematic trailer below.

Marvel 1943 is a linear single-player experience in which you will take on the role of all four characters at different times, offering different perspectives on the story and the war. The project is led by Skydance president Amy Hennig, best known as the lead writer for the Uncharted franchise.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is coming in 2025, although platforms are currently unknown. You can learn more about how Skydance approaches game storytelling by reading our 2022 interview with Amy Hennig and Skydance story consultant Marc Bernardin.
