  • Reddit and Samsung forums are full of complaints that the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s vibrant color profile looks washed out compared to previous Galaxy models.
  • Samsung is promising a fix, with the company’s developer team actively working on a software update to resolve the issue.
  • No date is mentioned for the patch, but customers are advised to stay connected to Wi-Fi for the update.

Samsung has confirmed that there is a software issue with the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display after several customers experienced an issue with the display.

According to a number of users on Reddit and Samsung’s forum page, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s vibrant color profile isn’t as vivid as it should be. In fact, it looks washed out compared to previous Samsung Galaxy phones.

The problem is not isolated; several editors (1, 2) complained that the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s vibrant color profile doesn’t really stand out from Natural mode. On older models like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Vivid Color brings out much more color depth than the default Natural setting.

Courtesy of Forbeswe now know that Samsung acknowledged the issue with a screenshot of a conversation between a user and support staff.

“Our Samsung developer team is currently working to resolve this issue on your device,” the Samsung representative said. “Please rest assured that this upcoming software update will resolve our issue on our Samsung S24.”

That said, the support specialist did not mention a release date for the patch. Instead, customers are advised to stay connected to Wi-Fi to ensure the update will be available when it’s ready. At least the company is reassuring its customers that this problem can be fixed with a software update.

Some had previously speculated that the anti-glare finish of the S24 Ultra’s Gorilla Armor screen was to blame. It turns out that while this new glass protector is good at blocking glare and passing durability tests, it’s innocent when it comes to changing light or screen colors.

If you want vibrant colors on your Galaxy S24 Ultra screen and you’re feeling a little stuck, there’s not much you can do right now. But with Samsung preparing a firmware update to bring back that vibrant color mode, you’ll soon be getting the most out of your screen.
