TL;DR

  • Microsoft has announced an AI-focused event on May 20 ahead of Build 2024.
  • The Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 could make their highly anticipated debut at the event.
  • The event will also highlight Microsoft’s upcoming plans in AI, Copilot and more.

While we wait to get our first look at Windows 12, it looks like Microsoft might have a special event planned for May 20. This event will take place before its next developer conference – Build 2024.

In a media invitation, Microsoft revealed that CEO Satya Nadella would deliver a keynote speech outlining the company’s “vision for AI across hardware and software.” Notably, this event will not be broadcast live – it will be reserved for journalists attending in person – so you will not be able to watch it later.

The event is expected to focus on closer integration of AI into upcoming Microsoft devices and Windows updates. But this will not be the only subject covered by the event. The edge reports that we can also expect to see consumer versions of the Surface Pro 10 and the highly anticipated Surface Laptop 6 at the May 20 gathering.

These upcoming consumer-facing Surface machines could potentially be the first to use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X Elite processors. They will also most likely focus on delivering a robust suite of AI-driven features in Windows.

Microsoft promised updates on “AI, Copilots and more” at its Build 2024 conference, so we’re also expecting new announcements around Microsft Copilot. 2024 construction will begin on Tuesday, May 21 and continue through May 22.
