The new features will provide highlights, personalized replies, and, perhaps most useful, thread summaries. The latter will help workers catch up on long Slack chats. Similarly, channel summaries will provide the highlights of any Slack channel, rounding up unread messages or summarizing conversations over a given date range.

Meanwhile, the platform’s new search functionality will help workers get “clear and concise” answers to specific questions, eliminating “wild goose chases using hijacked search terms.” depending on the company.

“These new AI capabilities give our customers access to Slack’s collective knowledge so they can work smarter, scale faster, and spend their time on tasks that drive real innovation and growth,” said Denise Dresser , CEO.

AI will soon be integrated into a fleet of Slack partner apps, such as Notion, Box, Asana, and Canva. Notion, for example, already has an AI summary feature.

These features arrived after an initial pilot program, during which Slack workers saw a “direct” improvement in productivity. Users will now be able to find out for themselves.
