Tesla releases details on upcoming Model 3 performance

The “ludicrous” Tesla Model 3 Performance variant really seems to be around the corner.

The company has apparently disclosed many details about the upcoming model on its own website. Although not visible during normal browsing, the specifications and list of features are accessible in the site’s source code, as detectives discovered on Tesla Motor Club (via Electrek).

The Model 3 Performance (or “Ludicrous”, another popular name based on previous leaks) is an upcoming performance-focused variant of the Tesla Model 3. We saw what it looks like thanks to an apparent private reveal held in Malibu, but now we have almost official information on some of its specifications.

We searched the source of UK version of Tesla website and saw the details with our own eyes. The list of features is as follows:

  • Exclusive to Model 3 Performance, the redesigned front and rear fascias, rear diffuser and carbon fiber spoiler provide a unique look and work together to optimize high-speed stability.

  • All-new adaptive suspension

  • All-new adaptive cushioning powered by internal software gives you greater body control, without sacrificing everyday usability or comfort.

  • The latest generation driving mode integrates adaptive suspension controls with a performance-optimized powertrain to deliver more responsiveness and driving pleasure.

  • Track Mode V3 features all-new powertrain calibration and adaptive suspension to give you more authority behind the wheel, you can customize the handling balance, stability controls and regenerative braking to configure the car as you like it.

  • The all-new seat design with improved side bolsters and cushions keeps you in place, while ventilation keeps you cool.

  • The custom chassis and suspension hardware are tuned to provide an intuitive and precise response to driver inputs.

  • Performance Forged Wheels, lightweight, offset wheels deliver sharper cornering response, improved predictability, increased corner exit traction and optimized aerodynamics.

  • Improved pedal feel and improved heat management ensure consistent braking at all speeds and over a wider temperature range.

  • The lightweight carbon fiber decor and refined weave pattern are unique to Model 3 Performance.

Although it is difficult to discern the actual specifications of the car, this information can also be found in the code:

Notably, the word “Ludicrous” is mentioned once in the code, but the car is called Model 3 Performance throughout, indicating that the name will remain unchanged (the original Model 3 Performance was discontinued after Tesla launched the upgrade). “Highland” version of the Model 3 in 2023).
