Blizzard Entertainment said it still hopes to bring World of Warcraft to Xbox consoles one day.
Talk to GamesRadar during a press event for the next MMO The internal war expansion, executive producer Holly Longdale was asked if discussions were still underway about the World of Warcraft potentially available on Xbox consoles following Microsoft’s acquisition of Blizzard.
According to Longdale, the idea of bringing the game to consoles is still on the table, but there are no discussions about it in the near future.
“The dream remains,” Longdale said. “We’re so focused on delivering what’s on our roster for players and our expansions. Honestly, there’s no room for that conversation yet. But you know, the dream is real.”
During BlizzCon 2023 last year, executive producer said the publication said there were discussions about this prospect “all the time” and in terms of the technical jump from PC to Xbox, she anticipated no obstacles, stating: “I think we’re pretty well positioned, which is sort of why we’re talking about it.
In November, Blizzard revealed its plans for the future of the MMO, which it calls The Saga of the Soul of the World and will include three other expansions, including the first, The internal warfollowed by Midnight And The Last Titan.
The studio then revealed the full roadmap leading to the release of the next major expansion and suggested that The War Within could have a summer or fall launch window.
More recently, World of Warcraft: Flight of the DragonThe latest content update received a brand new limited-time Battle Royale mode called Looting Storm. The pirate-themed mode allows up to 60 players per match and can be played solo or in pairs.
