Furiosa: A Mad Max saga Star Nathan Jones shares statement reminding people of the fictional nature of the film following harassing direct messages. Serving as a prequel to 2015s Mad Max: Road to Fury, the latest installment in director George Miller’s apocalyptic franchise tells the origins of Charlize Theron’s Furiosa, this time played by Anya Taylor-Joy. THE Furiosa: A Mad Max saga The cast includes a number of actors from the 2015 film, including Jones as Rictus Erectus, Immortan Joe’s youngest son.


Jones has now taken to Facebook to share a new post reminding the public that Furiosa: A Mad Max saga is actually a fictional story. The actor claims to have received private messages from viewers about the film regarding an uncomfortable scene his character has with a young Furiosa. Check out Jones’ message below:

“I’ve noticed a few requests and private messages regarding my role in Mad Max: Furiosa“, writes Jones, “Particularly concerning a scene with young Furiosa. This is a very sensitive subject, and I would like to point out that this is a fictional character.” He keeps on: “The details can be uncomfortable, and as an actor, my job is to embody a character based on the direction and script I’ve been given. I appreciate your understanding and support in recognizing the distinction between fiction and reality. THANKS.”



Rictus’s Uncomfortable Furiosa Scene Explained

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Furiosa: A Mad Max SagaContrary to Mad Max: Road to Fury, Angry takes place over approximately 15 years, tracing the main character’s life from her childhood living in Green Place to the time she chooses to escape the Citadel with Immortan Joe’s wives. In the first part of the film, Furiosa is played by the young actress Alyla Browne. Browne was praised in the Furiosa: A Mad Max sagafor its strong portrayal of a young version of the character, but this portrayal includes some intense and mature scenes.


One of these scenes shows Furiosa living in the Citadel in captivity with Joe’s wives. A night, Rictus takes Furiosa out of her cell and strokes her hair suggestively., the scene having clear sexual connotations. The scene essentially ends there, with Furiosa then enacting her plan to escape, but it’s certainly enough to establish Rictus as more than just a violent brute, and it’s certainly one of the more disturbing throughout the film.

Rictus does not find himself facing justice for his actions at the end of Furiosa: A Mad Max sagabut he ends up dying during the climax of Mad Max: Road to Fury. The structure of Miller’s prequel allowed the director to delve into the characters and locations of his apocalyptic saga in greater detail, but, as the Rictus scene shows, these moments can sometimes be uncomfortable. Despite the worrying nature of some of them Furiosa: A Mad Max saga scenes, it is still surprising that Jones had to clarify that they are fictional.

Could Rictus or Furiosa return in another Mad Max movie?

Before Angry was released in theaters, Miller revealed at the film‘s Cannes premiere (via THR) that he has already planned a story for another film in the world of Mad Max. It would not be the continuation of Mad Max: Road to Fury this has been rumored in the years since this film‘s release, but it would instead be another prequel. This one, however, would tell the story of what happened to Max during the year leading up to the events of Fury Roadthe timeline potentially allowing Tom Hardy to reprise his role from the 2015 film.


If the
Mad Max
franchise returns in the future, it’s likely it will be a much smaller scale project with a smaller budget.

Miller, however, stipulated in his commentary that the making of the film will depend on how Angry is received. Although the new film received mostly positive reviews and currently ranks as the third highest rated film in the franchise on Rotten Tomatoes (see chart below), it was not a box office success. Unfortunately, with Angry looks like it won’t become profitable during its theatrical run, It seems unlikely that Miller’s vision for a Max prequel will come true, meaning audiences have likely seen the last of Rictus and Furiosa. The poor performance of the film confirms this Fury RoadThe modest performance in 2015 simply suggested that the franchise had limited mass appeal. If the Mad Max franchise returns in the future, it’s likely it will be a much smaller scale project with a smaller budget.

While Angry‘s poor performance has likely put a damper on any plans for future expansion of the franchise, the best path forward for the IP at this point would be a stripped-down story akin to 1979. Mad Max or the years 1981 Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. The first film was made on a budget of around $350,000 (not adjusted for inflation), proving that Miller is certainly capable of telling a compelling story on a smaller scale.. This would unfortunately mean that the major action would put in place elements of Fury Road And Angry it simply wouldn’t be possible.

While it would certainly be a loss not to have the big action spectacle of the last two installments, it would still be interesting to follow Hardy’s Max or Theron’s Furiosa in a story that plays out more like a contained thriller. However, based on what Miller has publicly revealed, there are no story ideas for a smaller-scale project. Mad Max movie. Unfortunately, it seems that Furiosa: A Mad Max saga will be the last journey to the Wasteland for the foreseeable future.
