Google recently overhauled its AI efforts, rebranding Bard as Gemini and releasing new features, like support for Gemini on mobile. But it wasn’t perfect, at least not at launch. The rollout was slow, so not all users were able to access all of Gemini’s new features. Those who were able to access the latest Gemini features encountered some issues.

However, Google was quick to respond to the concerns. Jack Krawczyk, Gemini product manager at Google, assured users that fixes were on the way. Although some problems persist, Krawczyk took X (formerly Twitter) with an update on Friday. This came a day after Google surprisingly gave its AI models a boost with the release of 1.5 Pro.

When Krawczyk first noticed that Google was working quickly to fix some of Gemini’s most crucial bugs, denials were at the top of his list. Today, Krawczyk says Google has reduced rejections by about half in just over a week since Gemini launched.

Additionally, Google updated the Gemini app to automatically enter voice requests after the user finishes speaking. This move aims to make using Gemini similar to using the regular Google Assistant. Previously, users had to manually enter their requests after speaking, which limited Gemini’s usefulness as a hands-free assistant.

Gemini’s mobile app was initially limited to the United States, although it has since launched in more countries. The AI ​​assistant was also limited in terms of language support. This limitation has forced eager users to change their Android device’s language setting to English, which will hopefully allow them to log in. There have been a few connection errors related to using this method of activating Gemini, but Krawczyk says many of them are fixed.

Gemini is now also more widely available to Android users. “Most users access mobile on iOS through the Google app and Android through the Opt-In Assistant,” Krawczyk wrote. “We continue to roll it out gradually. »

Looking back at Krawczyk’s initial list of “things to fix ASAP,” there are a few loose ends left. Some of these include broader support for Assistant tasks, coding help, and removing some “preachy” guardrails. Fixes for these are probably still in progress.

But considering how quickly Google delivered the first improvements to Gemini, it probably won’t take long.
