It’s been a while since the last solo Superman film, and James Gunn’s next Superman could fill in some long-missing qualities in the character.

How James Gunn Elevates Everyday Planet Beyond Past Superman Movies

With Cat and Ron added to the Superman casting of the film, it becomes clear that Gunn really wants to put more emphasis on The Daily Planet in the DC Universe. Although the newspaper publisher has always been present in past live-action films, Superman films, this is the first time so many staff members have been featured in the story. In fact, for Cat and Ron, Gunn’s Superman movie will mark their feature film debut, having been featured in previous films. Superman TV shows.

As Superman will not be a traditional origin story for Corenswet’s Man of Steel, the addition of Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Cat and Ron, as well as the recent casting of Steve Lombard, Gunn clearly wants to show the larger role that the Daily Planet plays in Clark’s life.. Having these supporting characters around him also further emphasizes Clark’s career as a journalist, allowing him to have colleagues and work rivals in his life other than Lois Lane and Lex Luthor.

It will be fascinating to see what role the Daily Planet plays in the larger DC Universe, especially in today’s news agency landscape. Whether or not Hoover and McDonald are the latest casting news for the Superman the film remains to be seen, as there could be other surprise cast members that Gunn has yet to reveal. As Superman gets closer to the end of principal photography, we hope the world doesn’t have to wait much longer for the first trailer for Gunn’s film.
