Fresh off the Boston Celtics’ win in the NBA Finals last night, we discovered a new way to get on the court this summer. Nintendo Switch Sports, the successor to the hugely popular Wii Sports series, is arriving in 2022. While the initial offerings lacked depth and sometimes left us wanting more than the base game was capable of offering, Nintendo has stuck with it under the title and improved the offers. thanks to free updates. A few months after launch, the title added golf at no extra cost, and during today’s Nintendo Direct we learned that another free update is coming to the game this summer to add basketball to the mix.

Nintendo Switch Sports’ implementation of basketball uses motion controls for dribbling, passing, and shooting. You can compete locally in two-on-two matches or compete in five-over battle matches and three-point contests. You can also take part in a single-player three-point challenge, in which you must make as many baskets as possible before time runs out.

Nintendo Switch Sports’ free basketball update is coming this summer. For more on Nintendo Switch Sports, be sure to read our review of the base game here.
