Richard Armitage is working on a film adaptation of his first novel

Armitage had previously expressed interest in adapting the novel for the screen, and he confirmed that process was underway during an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com to promote his film I Am Urban (which is now available in digital download).

“I’m producing an adaptation of my first book with Sony, so we’re working on that together,” he explained, later adding that he was looking for a screenwriter to write the screenplay. .

“I’m looking for a writer who will challenge me and tell me what I missed and what the mistakes are,” he said.

Alongside this, he also explained how the story was a perfect fit for the present moment, given that one of the novel’s key topics involves a neural implant.

“And then, of course, you kind of read the news and Elon Musk raises his hand and says, ‘We did it, the first neural implant went into someone’s head.’ And you think, ‘Wow, there’s a zeitgeist here that I don’t want to miss.'”

Armitage is also currently finishing the editing process on his second novel, and he explained that while writing is a creative process that he greatly enjoys, it comes with added pressure compared to acting .

“If the project you were in turns out to be a dud, you can always raise your hand and say, ‘Well, I didn’t write it. It’s not my fault,'” he said. declared. “But when you’ve written it and you can’t do it, there’s no way to hide.

“But I like it too, because you become the architect. And that’s something I wanted to do, not out of narcissism, but just because I kind of have a brain that explodes of ideas, and I want to somehow put them all into action.”
