Take-Two CEO Is Thrilled That GTA 6 Trailer ‘Breaked The Internet’, But Found Leak ‘Disappointing’

Alongside the company’s latest earnings report, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick reflected on the effects of the recent Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer leak.

If you’ve already forgotten, the trailer for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto The series suddenly appeared on Twitter/X the day before its planned reveal. This prompted developer Rockstar Games to officially release the trailer hours before its scheduled release, sending journalists around the world into a panicked frenzy.

In a new interview with IGN Before the earnings call, Zelnick called the trailer leak “disappointing.” Even so, he added that he did not believe the leak had significantly harmed the company.

“It’s amazing when the announcement of the trailer is huge news, and then we were very pleased when the trailer broke the Internet,” he explained. “In terms of leaking, it’s always disappointing for the team, but ultimately, I don’t think it hurt us.”

The trailer has already racked up 174 million views on YouTube. It also broke the record for launching the most viewed trailer of all time on the platform, which is an impressive achievement. You can see the GTA6 trailer for yourself below:

While it’s impossible to know what would have happened without the trailer leaking, these massive numbers could suggest that the leak might not have had much of an impact on the number of people interested in the trailer during GTA6.

On the other hand, it’s also easy to imagine that the trailer would have performed just as well either way, given how huge a cultural icon its predecessor was, Grand Theft Auto 5became.

Scheduled for release in 2025, GTA6 is easily one of the most exciting and highly anticipated upcoming games around. Set in the classic fan-favorite Vice City location, we can’t wait to discover its world and characters.
