  • Samsung UK support says users have reported issues with various Volkswagon, Skoda and SEAT vehicle models.
  • Affected people were unable to properly connect to Android Auto on the latest Galaxy S24 series.
  • Samsung says the three brands have started working on a software fix. However, users can try some troubleshooting tips in the meantime.

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S24 series is having issues with Android Auto software on some car brands.

According to Samsung UK supportseveral users have started reporting problems with the S24 series and their Volkswagon, Skoda and SEAT cars (via 9to5Google). It is important to note that the problems do not extend to each vehicle model within the umbrella of these brands. Affected users were unable to connect their Galaxy S24 device to their car, therefore unable to use navigation features, among others.

Samsung offers some troubleshooting tips, starting with Volkswagen cars. The company says there is a compatibility issue “with hotspot connections” between a few VW cars and Android phones. The Korean OEM attributes this issue to IP swapping for hotspots since the Android 11 to 14 upgrade.

This problem can be fixed by updating your vehicle’s firmware, which could alleviate Android Auto issues for Volkswagen drivers.

The remaining tips are to double-check your Galaxy S24 software and make sure you have the latest version of the Android Auto app software. Check your USB-C cable and port for any damage or debris. And finally, check your vehicle settings for software updates.

Samsung adds that all three automakers are working on software updates for the vehicles, causing problems for Galaxy S24 owners. It’s unclear when drivers can expect such a fix.

Additionally, the company states that users can contact their car’s service center if none of the troubleshooting methods prove helpful.

Galaxy owners experienced this dance in December, following a One UI 6 update; The S23 and S22 devices also experienced issues with Android Auto. The fix effectively disrupted the wireless connectivity of the aforementioned devices and users’ cars, consistently generating an error message. Those who were affected were forced to rely on their USB-C cables instead of the hands-free method.
