What do you want to know

  • The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is rumored to feature an upgraded UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) panel for improved tactile feel and durability.
  • Samsung appears to have reinforced the hinge for added durability while simultaneously reducing the overall thickness of the phone.
  • The upcoming foldable is rumored to be just 11mm thick when folded, a reduction from the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s thickness of 13.4mm.

Recent rumors say the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be incredibly thin with a titanium frame, and a new rumor gives more details about its design and weight.

According to a Naver Blog User which is called eyes1122, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 gets an upgrade with a better UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) panel (via Android Authority). This means improved tactile feel and durability compared to older versions.

Samsung appears to have reinforced the hinge for added strength and durability, while also making the phone lighter. It appears that when folded, the next foldable should only be 11mm thick, a drop from the 13.4mm of the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

If this is correct, it seems Samsung is still looking to make the Galaxy Z Fold series more user-friendly. The company is keeping up with the competition, especially with foldable phones like the Pixel Fold taking the lead in portability.

Opting for a thinner design could raise concerns about durability, but Samsung appears to be countering that by switching from aluminum to titanium. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will opt for a specific grade of titanium, different from that used by the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Additionally, the device’s slimmer profile is likely to influence its weight, although the change may not be as significant as one might imagine. Comparing the weight of previous prototypes to the final product, yeux1122 predicts that the Z Fold 6 will weigh between 248 and 249 grams.

The leaker also suggests a battery upgrade of around 5%. To put things into perspective, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 currently packs a 4,400mAh battery.

The blogger mentioned a few more details, but indicated that these were still unconfirmed. This involves the RAM and storage configuration (apparently 16GB of RAM with a maximum storage of 1TB) and the lack of an S Pen slot.

While no major camera changes are expected, it’s possible that a more affordable Z Fold could be announced alongside the main flagship this year. This could potentially inject some much-needed energy into the foldable market.
