Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s planned public beta has been cancelled – “this would prevent development teams from preparing for full launch”

The public beta session scheduled for Warhammer 40,000: Marine Space 2 was canceled by developer Saber Interactive.

Announced in a Official Steam release, the studio revealed that the move was aimed at focusing resources on preparing the game for a launch in September this year. “Space Navy 2 is almost ready. We are now fully focused on optimizing, polishing, and fixing any remaining issues before launch on September 9th,” the announcement reads. “This means we will not be launching a live public beta, as this would prevent the development teams from preparing for the full launch, and our priority is to ensure the best possible experience upon release.”

To soften the blow a bit for those who had already signed up, players who signed up before June 28, 2024 will receive a limited Bolt Pistol skin.

Not long ago, Saber Interactive released an official gameplay reveal video, in which we saw a whole host of weapons, a brilliant presentation of the Warhammer 40K aesthetic and got a closer look the game‘s modes. It really whet our appetite for the game and we’re still as excited as ever.

However, reactions to the public beta have been mixed. Some fans believe that the developers are simply prioritizing keeping the hammer (Thunder) in order for the game to launch in its best state, while others believe that this could be a red flag and an indication that the game is in bad shape right now.

Regardless, for now, with the public beta now removed from the game‘s launch path, all we can do is directly wait for its release on September 9, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox series |S and PC.
