Bluesky now allows heads of state to join the platform

Now that Bluesky has opened up to the public and the team has decided it’s finally time to embrace world leaders as well. A message from the official On Friday, the account informed users: “By the way…we have lifted our ‘no heads of state’ policy.” The policy has been in place for a year as Bluesky has navigated all of the early challenges of growing a fledgling social network.

Bluesky remained an invite-only platform from its launch in February 2023 until February of this year, when it finally dropped off the waitlist. said last May that it was not prepared to host heads of state, and even asked users to notify its support team “before inviting important people.” It has since grown to over 5 million users, just one day after it no longer required invite codes.
