Bridgerton “will evolve towards a more inclusive society in terms of sexuality” as the series develops.

The Bridgerton Chronicles Showrunner Jess Brownell has revealed why the series deals with issues like racism and homophobia very differently.

From The Bridgerton Chronicles debuted, the series sparked much debate over its depiction of racism. Although it is set in the 1800s, racism does not exist in the series in the same way as it did in the United Kingdom during that time. Queen Charlotte is depicted as mixed race and many characters have love interests who are not the same race as them and this is accepted.

On the other hand, it becomes clear from the first season that homosexuality is still taboo. All the queer characters in The Bridgerton Chronicles until now, have explored their sexualities and same-sex relationships behind closed doors. Now, Jess Brownell has spoken out about race and sexuality on the show and whether or not things will change in future seasons.

Speaking about racism and homophobia on the show, Jess said Teen Vogue that it was important to stay true to what had been established in the first two seasons. She said: “When I took on the role of showrunner and started thinking about telling queer stories, I took stock of what the show had already established and thought about how that I could learn from.”

Jess added: “The clues I’m taking from seasons one and two are that, for better or worse, we’ve already established with Henry Granville’s storyline in season one, that gay men weren’t allowed to speak openly about their sexuality. Jess has only become The Bridgerton Chroniclesis the showrunner of season 3 after working as a writer on the first two seasons.

Comparing how the show will approach sexuality in the future with the show’s approach to race, Jess said: “I also took inspiration from how our alternate history is set up as far as where the real conjecture on Queen Charlotte Being potentially mixed race is the starting point for creating a more inclusive society.

She continued: “Going forward, what I try to do is use examples from history that I can draw on. [of] and potentially tell a new origin story about how the The Bridgerton Chronicles The world could move towards a more inclusive society in terms of sexuality. »

As for whether characters like Francesca and Benedict will come out to their families, Jess said, “Based on what the show has already established, it didn’t feel right to automatically be in a space where sexuality is super inclusive, but it’s something that I would like to move forward in the story, as we move forward in time.”

Season 3 of Brigderton reveals that Francesca’s future love interest, Michael Stirling, has had a sex change. Essentially, Francesca and Michaela might actually have a proud and open relationship when it comes to their season.
