Wicked Director Jon M. Chu has shared several new behind-the-scenes photos as production wraps on the musical, offering new glimpses of Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, Ariana Grande’s Glinda, and Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero. The two-part adaptation of Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz’s famous musical of the same name focuses on the early life of the Wicked Witch of the West and her relationships with the people who would shape her future. After many stops and starts, Wicked Filming for both installments was completed in January, ending production after thirteen months.

With the Wicked filming of the adaptation is coming to an end, director Chu took to her Instagram account to share a personal message to mark the occasion.

Alongside a heartfelt message thanking Universal Pictures and the cast’s work throughout the film‘s production, Chu also shared a selection of black-and-white behind-the-scenes photos taken during his experience that tease the three main characters of the film. ‘history. Along with individual silhouettes of Elphaba, Glinda and Fiyero in iconic poses, a photo of the two witches’ silhouettes side by side is also included, as well as a final photo celebrating the crew behind the camera.

Alongside Erivo and Grande as Elphaba and Glinda, several familiar and famous faces are set to play other influential figures from the world of Oz for Chu’s big screen. Wicked adaptation. Jeff Goldblum is set to take on the role of the Wizard of Oz himself, whom Elphaba admired during her youth, while Michelle Yeoh plays the Wizard’s ally and former mentor to the Wicked Witches, Madame Morrible. Meanwhile, Ethan Slater will take on the role of Munchkin Boq and Marissa Bode will play Elphaba’s sister and future Wicked Witch of the East, Nessarose.

The hit Broadway musical Wicked will hit the big screen in 2024. From its seasoned director to its A-list stars, the film has a lot going for it.

Villain: Part One will premiere on November 24, while Villain: Part Two will be released on November 26, 2025.
