Capcom has confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will have an uncapped frame rate at launch.

In a new job shared on X (formerly Twitter) today (February 14), Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno announced that the game would release with an uncapped framerate (via IGN). This means that the fantasy role-playing game will not have a framerate locked at 30fps, which was a topic of conversation and concern within the fanbase, before Itsuno’s official confirmation.

On the other hand, this variable frame rate could potentially cause some issues as it is a feature that changes depending on what is on screen, whether it be action sequences or cutscenes. We don’t yet know how this will happen. Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Itsuno has not revealed which platforms this feature will be available on, however, it seems likely that it will be present on PC. Although there is no official confirmation, the director has done so as a response from a fan who asked if it would be “on consoles too” so read it as you will.
