Drake Bell Explains How Josh Peck Helped Him After ‘Quiet On Set’ Appearance

Drake Bell has praised his Drake & Josh co-star after confirming he contacted Drake during his appearance on the Nickelodeon docuseries.

Drake Bell has spoken further about supporting Josh Peck after speaking out about what happened to him during his time at Nickelodeon.

In the Calm on set: The dark side of children’s television docuseries, Drake identifies himself as the unnamed juvenile in the 2004 sexual assault conviction of former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck. Peck was sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender after pleading no contest to two charges. (He is not related to Josh Peck.)

After Drake’s story broke, fans began pressuring Josh to speak out in support of his co-star and began receiving backlash over a TikTok video. Hours later, Drake confirmed that Josh had contacted him privately and urged fans to “go easy on him.” Josh later released his own statement.

Now, Drake is opening up about how Josh supported him and how much he appreciated doing it in private instead of in public.

Speaking on the Not skinny but not fat podcast with host Amanda Hirsch, Drake said: “Josh worked on Amanda’s Show, so he saw and knew what was happening. But I appreciate that he reached out to me privately and didn’t go straight to the media because he was there with me and saw what I was going through.”

Drake went on to explain that he didn’t think Josh knew the details of what happened to him, but that he had the idea that something was wrong.

“I don’t think he knew the details, but some people who worked on the show knew who it was,” he added. “He knew how sensitive it was for me and after watching the documentary he learned a lot about what I had gone through and I think he was so sensitive and made sure to contact me in private rather than going directly to social networks. “.

Drake added, “I think Brian was able to fool a lot of people and paint a picture that was far from reality.”

Drake recently explained why he decided to come forward and identify himself as the anonymous minor sexually assaulted by Brian Peck.

Speaking on The Sarah Fraser Show PodcastDrake explained that part of the reason he felt it was the right time to share his story was because Calm on set co-directors. Of Emma Schwartz, he said: “She was very sensitive and we sort of became friends. I could tell she was coming from a genuine place when we started our interactions.”

Drake then went to rehab and began trauma therapy before deciding to share his story.
