Hideaki Nishino and Hermen Hulst will take over as CEOs of PlayStation after Jim Ryan retires

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced that Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino will succeed Jim Ryan as joint CEOs of PlayStation.

Starting June 1, 2024, Nishino will officially assume the role of CEO of SIE’s Platform Business Group, which includes leadership of console hardware, technology and accessories, while Hulst will be named CEO of SIE’s Studio Business Group and will oversee PlayStation first-party teams. as well as the development of PlayStation IP in television and film.

Hulst, also known as the co-founder of Horizon Forbidden West developer Guerrilla Games, has led PlayStation Studios since 2019.

Likewise, Nishino has been with Sony since 2006, having held positions at Sony Network Entertainment, Sony Corporation, and SIE, and was previously Senior Vice President of Platform Experiences.

Former PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan officially retired in March after nearly 30 years at Sony, a few months after his official announcement. Since then, Hiroki Totoki has served as interim CEO.

Totoki will now serve as Chairman of SIE, as well as President, COO and CFO of Sony Group Corporation.
