Google has invested heavily in Gemini, its AI-powered chatbot, to better compete with ChatGPT. Google is doing its best to integrate other apps and services that people use with its AI chatbot through Gemini Extensions (formerly known as Bard Extensions). The company recently announced the YouTube Music extension, allowing Gemini to search, play and control music from YouTube Music. Google may soon extend this functionality to Spotify.
A Teardown of the APK helps predict features that might come to a service in the future based on current work code. However, these planned features may not be available in a public release.
We’ve spotted strings in the Google app v15.22.29.29.arm64 that indicate Google is working on a Spotify extension for YouTube Music.

Spotify requires sign in In the strings above, Robin is the internal codename of Gemini (formerly Bard) used in the Google app. The channels clearly refer to Spotify and leave no doubt about the imminent arrival of the service as a Gemini extension.
Through extensions, Google Gemini can access information from various Google apps and services and use it to provide you with even better AI results. For example, the Google Workspace extension for Gemini lets you get summarized answers from your own content, while the Google Maps extension for Gemini gets you location-based information.
The YouTube Music extension allows you to search and listen to music through Gemini by accessing the audio streaming service. We spotted the feature well before its release and even got a working demo and list of commands before Google made its official announcement. We hope Spotify gets similar feature parity and we’ll be on the lookout for more clues.
The Spotify Gemini extension is currently not available in Gemini. We expect it to launch in the future once Google has developed the feature and conducted satisfactory beta testing.
