I Used a Dozen iPhone 15 Pro Max Cases: Here Are My Favorites

I don’t normally use cases with my phones; I just don’t like the feel of them, and even thin cases tend to add weight and bulk to a device. Given that I change phones every two weeks on average, it doesn’t make sense to attach a case either. The only exception to this rule is the iPhone; I’ve been using an iPhone as a secondary phone for almost five years now, and since there’s only one model per year, it gets continuous use, unlike most Android phones.

There’s also the fact that iPhones are significantly more expensive than their Android counterparts on this side of the world. My iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $415 more than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and it seemed prudent to use a case. It makes using the iPhone 15 Pro Max much easier; I don’t like the flat sides of the device, and a case makes it much more comfortable to hold.

The only Android phone that deserves this treatment is the Pixel; I keep coming back to the current-gen Pixel all year long, and I just don’t trust Google’s build quality, so that’s a case too. Anyway, you’re not here to learn how I use phones; you want to see which is the best case for iPhone 15 Pro Max, then let’s get started.

I contacted Spigen, Caseology, Peak Design, Casetify, and Mujjo and got 12 cases total to use with the device. Additionally, Apple sent two cases with the phone, including the FineWoven option and a wallet case, but they aren’t as good as third-party cases, so I won’t highlight them.

Peak Design Protective Case: Best Overall

I love Peak Design’s tech bag and accessories, so it was a natural choice to test out the brand’s Everyday Case. The case is made from a nylon canvas shell and is comfortable to hold and use, but it does add considerable bulk to the device. It has raised edges on the front that ensure the screen won’t be damaged if the phone is dropped, and the buttons have excellent tactile feedback.

This is a MagSafe case, so if you have any attachments, you can easily insert them without any problems. The best part about the Everyday Case is that it uses Peak Design’s innovative mounting system (called SlimLink), allowing you to attach a diverse set of accessories and mounts to the back of the iPhone 15 Pro Max .

It’s a unique differentiator, and after using the case with a few accessories over the past six months, it’s now my preferred choice. The only issue I have with the case is that it extends a bit above the USB-C port, so you can’t use USB-C cables with wide connectors.

I received the Everyday Case in Sage, but it is also available in four other color options, and retails for $49it’s a great choice if you want a durable case with expandability. I also use the same case with my Pixel 8 Pro, and it’s just as great.

Mujjo Leather Phone Case: Best Leather Option

Mujjo makes the best leather cases and the brand has outdone itself with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The all-leather case is exquisite to use and incredibly lightweight. The case has a leather finish on all sides and you get a microfiber lining on the inside as well as a polycarbonate shell.

Mujjo opted for metal buttons and they have great tactility. The only downside is that the Action button is hidden, but other than that, I couldn’t find any fault with this Mujjo case. It also has raised edges, but they don’t extend as much and it works perfectly with all MagSafe accessories.

I used the Leather Case for a few months after purchasing it, and without the added versatility of the Everyday Case, it would still be on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I got the burgundy variant of the case, but it’s currently sold out at Mujjo; the positive side is that the available colors are on sale, and you can get the leather case for only $41. If you prefer wallet cases, Mujjo also offers a leather wallet caseand which is available in burgundy.

Spigen: Exceptional Everyday Use Cases

I always recommend Spigen whenever someone asks for a clear case recommendation; the brand does it better than most and has a great selection for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’m partial to the Ultra Hybrid Zero One for obvious reasons: the case just looks cool and it does a great job of showing off the iPhone’s innards.

It’s incredibly thin and lightweight, the clear sides accentuate the phone’s titanium frame well, and the case maintains its clear design without yellowing even after prolonged use. It also has powerful magnets and pairs well with any MagSafe accessory. The only problem is that the sides are shiny; the back itself has a matte texture and feels great to hold, and it would have been better if the sides had the same coating.

Other than that, I have no issues with this case, and if you want a clear case that stands out a bit, the Ultra Hybrid Zero One is a a no-brainer at its $21 sale price. If you want a classic clear case, the Ultra Hybrid S is my recommendation. It’s a great way to show off the design of the phone, and there’s also a built-in kickstand. From at only $25This is remarkable value.

If you need rugged protection, the Enzo Aramid case uses a combination of TPU and aramid to provide exceptional durability. It doesn’t add much bulk to the phone, but it does have a noticeable weight to it, and you get metal buttons on the sides that have a good tactile feel. The inside of the case is lined with microfiber, and its magnets are just as strong as the Ultra Hybrid Zero One. It’s more expensive at $39but it’s still a decent choice considering what’s on offer.

Caseology: Affordable Protection

Caseology is a subsidiary of Spigen and makes colorful cases that stand out. I’ve used both the Parallax Mag and NanoPop Mag cases with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I prefer the former. It has a textured finish on the back which makes it easy to hold, but what I like most is that the sides also have a textured design. This makes a world of difference in everyday use, and the case itself is thin and light.

And to only $20It’s a good thing. I purchased the case in midnight blue, but it is also available in black and burgundy. As the name suggests, the case is designed for use with MagSafe accessories, and I haven’t noticed any issues in that area.

Which iPhone 15 Pro Max case to buy?

If you just want a versatile case that does it all, my choice would be the Everyday Case from Peak Design. It’s rather bulky, but you get excellent protection and the ability to mount accessories is an added bonus. Likewise, if you are looking for a leather case, your search ends with Mujjo; the brand is the best in this regard, and the full leather case is a great choice.

I also got the Casetify cases, but the build quality isn’t quite up to par with the rest of the picks I highlighted above, and they’re not up to par for long-term use. So for any general use cases — like aramid-based picks or clear designs — you should just go with Spigen — the Zero One Ultra Hybrid series looks great and shows off the iPhone 15 Pro Max incredibly well.
