The Lord of the Rings enters the world of anime Naruto in a new batch of AI images. Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings The trilogy adapts author JRR Tolkien’s beloved fantasy novels, with the first film released in 2001 and the last in 2003. The story follows Frodo (Elijah Wood), a Hobbit who embarks on an epic journey through the vast land of Middle-earth to destroy the all-powerful One Ring. Frodo is joined on his quest by a number of loyal companions, but also encounters a host of monstrous enemies, including a Balrog.

Since Jackson’s Oscar-winning trilogy, the world of The Lord of the Rings remained firmly in the realm of live action. After Jackson’s division Hobbit trilogy, the Tolkien franchise has survived with Prime Video The Rings of Power, which serves as a prequel of sorts. However, an upcoming project set in the world of Middle-earth is expected to be the franchise’s biggest foray into animation since the 1978 film.

Sola Entertainment The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim expected to hit theaters later this year, telling a story set more than 200 years before Frodo’s epic quest. The film, directed by Kenji Kamiyama with production from New Line and Warner Bros., will tell the story of Helm Hammerhand, the king of Rohan responsible for the creation of Helm’s Deep. Helm’s Deep served as a memorable setting for the final battle sequence of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Although many questions remain about The Rohirrim War and no trailer has been released yet, the film will feature the voice acting talents of Brian Cox as Helm, with Miranda Otto reprising her role as Éowyn. Other actors set to play characters include Shaun Dooley, Luke Pasqualino and Gaia Wise, among others. It remains to be seen how the next The Lord of the Rings the anime will compare to the art above, but the film will obviously be an exciting new step for the franchise.
