For many of us, gaming isn’t just about putting pixels on a screen. Gaming has been an important part of my life since childhood, serving as both a source of entertainment and an opportunity to experience challenges in a different context. And when I can’t make it to the boxing gym to shake off the stresses of the day, gaming offers therapeutic relief that I can immerse myself in, temporarily leaving the pressures of life behind to return with a spirit clearer.
As a New York-based actor, filmmaker, and theater artist who doesn’t work a 9-to-5 job, I’m constantly on the move, going from auditions to gigs to screenings. Luckily for me, my job sometimes takes me to different corners of the map.
This weekend I took the Legion Go with me on an impromptu trip to Los Angeles. I spent many hours gaming on different consoles and was excited to immerse myself in the world of PC gaming, without wasting time on all the equipment needed for a desktop setup.

Lifestyle adjustment
On my way to the airport for my flight, I packed the Legion Go and immediately appreciated its portability. Its compact size makes it a breeze to slip into my travel bag, giving me the ideal flexibility I need. And as an actor, it’s a perfect choice.
Unlike many other handheld gaming consoles, the Legion Go runs Microsoft Windows 11; it has two detachable controllers and a large, crystal-clear 8.8-inch screen. This means that on top of all the awesome gaming capabilities, I can also browse the internet, stream my favorite shows, and even work on the Microsoft Office suite. It works like a tablet when you want it to, with a mouse and scroll wheel once you detach the right controller and use the trackpad.

Design
The Legion Go runs on a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 and can achieve a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, helping it outperform its competitors. It features a sturdy kickstand on the back, a touchpad on the right controller, and two USB-C ports, one on top and one on the bottom, so you can charge no matter if you’re hanging out on the sofa or sitting. at a desk and place your screen on the kickstand.
It weighs just under two pounds, which you start to feel in your wrists if you play for hours, as I sometimes tend to do with it. Cyberpunk 2077. But the graphics are fascinating and smooth as butter, meaning I often lost track of time. When my wrists needed a break, I placed the screen on the kickstand, detached the controllers, and continued playing.

What struck me
The sturdy screen size is undoubtedly the biggest advantage. One of the games I couldn’t wait to try was Monitoring, which I have played on several other consoles. Most recently, I’ve had to adjust my diet due to the frustrating technological limitations of gaming on a smaller handheld device. But the Legion Go’s screen is more than enough for me to get back to some of the snipers I used to play, and the Hall effect controllers meant stick drift was a thing of the past.
I also played Cyberpunk 2077, a notoriously difficult game for processors. After playing around with the plethora of settings available, I was able to balance the right performance mode, resolution, and refresh rate to make the game run like a dream. Additionally, I could easily read even the smallest text in gameplay.

Gift capacity
This would definitely be a grade A gift for the gamer in your life. If it’s a more advanced gamer with PC experience, the Legion Go’s tech specs and portability are pretty remarkable. On the other hand, this console is accessible enough that with a little tinkering, testing, and a standard Reddit forum review, the Legion Go remains a viable entry point for those new to PC gaming and who want to try their luck. .

I’ve had a great time playing with Lenovo’s latest portable device, both at home and on the go, and it’s a pretty sleek device overall. Graphically dense games like Cyberpunk 2077 And GenshinImpact look breathtakingly smooth with a high-performance, ultra-fast refresh rate. And the fact that it runs Windows 11 means I have a tablet handy whenever I want to work or go online.
