PlayStation Portal Remote Player

PlayStation Portal Remote Player

Sony’s PlayStation Portal Remote Player has been relatively difficult to purchase, with entries and out-of-stocks at various retailers since its mid-November launch. But luck is currently on the side of budding buyers: it is on sale again at Best Buy and PlayStation Direct from April 26.

Priced at $199.99, the Portal is a portable accessory for PlayStation 5 that allows players to stream their games through the console’s port. Remote play functionality; it looks like a DualSense controller split in half by an eight-inch LCD screen. Functionality-wise, this is nothing revolutionary: you can do exactly the same thing on a smartphone (for free!) — and its ability to work properly depends largely on the strength of your Internet connection. Still, Mashable’s Alex Perry was a reluctant fan.

“Portal’s excellent form factor, good display, and overall usefulness for me outweighed its many problems,” Perry wrote in his review, covering his board recommendation to wait for a discount. (Spoiler: This probably won’t happen anytime soon, judging by its continued difficulty in finding.)

PlayStation Portal: It’s life-changing and frustrating at the same time

If the portal sells out at Best Buy and PlayStation Direct before you can add it to your cart, you’ll have another chance to buy it at Walmart in the near future. From Monday, April 29 at 12 p.m. ET until the same time the next day, the big box store will host an early access event for paid Walmart+ members (no trial) that will feature limited availability of exclusive and hard-to-buy products . items.

Most of these items will be groceries, according to a press release – think Chips Ahoy autographed by KeKe Palmer! bundles, a collection of Dolly Parton baking mixes and mystery-tasting Flamin’ Hot Doritos – but a Portal restock will sneak in (very randomly) too.
