Is Lord Debling in the Bridgerton books? Penelope’s potential new love interest was created specifically for the series.

It’s almost time for The Bridgerton Chronicles to deliver the long-awaited romance between Colin and Penelope, but now it looks like fans of the couple are going to have to deal with a…surprise love triangle?!

The Bridgerton Chronicles Season 3 will see Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) take center stage as the Netflix series brings their love story to life. However, a brand new suitor seems to have entered the chat: Lord Debling.

Netflix released a series of promotional materials introducing the new character, and fans now know about it. sweat about what this means for Pen’s relationship with Colin.

In a promotional clip, Penelope and Lord Debling can be seen bowing and curtsying to each other. In another set of teaser photos, the duo are pictured together at a ball and at an outdoor event where a worried-looking Debling has his hands on the equally worried Pen’s waist and shoulder . Scandal!

Lord Debling does not actually appear in the The Bridgerton Chronicles novels, and we don’t see it anywhere in Colin and Penelope’s relationship in Romancing Mister Bridgerton. He is an original character created for the Netflix series and not much is known about him yet.

In an interview with series/shondaland-bridgerton-behind-the-scenes/a46772919/new-bridgerton-season-3-photos-video-fan-event/” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>Shondaland, Lord Debling actor Sam Phillips has teased what fans can expect to see from him. Explaining the character, Sam teased: “Lord Debling is seen as an outsider. He lives on the fringes of society, and he’s looking for a love match this season; he’s looking for someone who goes against the grain, someone one who is a little out of the way. a stranger like him. And he spots Penelope.

“He thinks she’s special because she’s also kind of seen as an outsider,” he added.

Of course, while fans hope to see Penelope and Colin’s relationship blossom in season 3, Debling’s introduction has sparked a whole host of theories and concerns about what this means for Polin.

So, is Debling a serious potential romantic partner for Penelope? When is Colin here?! We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out on May 16, when The Bridgerton Chronicles Season 3, Part 1 (first four episodes) is released on Netflix.
