Captain America 4 casts Breaking Bad and The Boys star as villain

Esposito plays a villain, according to The Hollywood Reporterbut we don’t yet know who.

Plot details currently remain scarce for the sequel, but we do know that Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will retain the role of Captain America after first receiving the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame, before moving on. his journey in Disney 2021. While it’s not yet clear who Esposito will play in Brave New World, rumors are rife about who he could be, with fans linking him to a number of Marvel characters, including Professor X, Galactus, Magneto and Doctor Doom.

The actor teased his MCU debut earlier this week on Phoenix Fan Fusion, saying (via a post from Legion of Sand on X/Twitter): “The MCU knocked on my door and it’s a role that we can’t predict. It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”

This isn’t the first time the actor has teased a future Marvel project, with the star revealing in 2022 that he had spoken with executives about a role.

In a TikTok posted by countdownEsposito was shown speaking at the TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con in San Antonio, Texas.

Responding to a fan question, he said: “I haven’t worked for Marvel yet. I’ve been in the room with them and talked to them.”

He added: “I’m going to go for something a little different. I’m going to put it out into the universe that [I’d like to play] Professor X.”

It’s shaping up to be a busy year for Esposito, as the star played a villain in the horror film Abigail, led the cast of Parish, appeared in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis at the Cannes film Festival, and starred in the Guy Ritchie. Gentlemen.

The actor is also set to appear in the upcoming horror trio MaXXXine alongside Mia Goth, as well as the fourth season of The Boys, which is set to land on Prime Video on June 13.
