Evil Empire delays The Rogue Prince of Persia so players can “have fun” with Hades 2

The Rogue Prince of Persia received a last minute delay to avoid offending the popularity of Hades 2.

In a statement shared on X/Twitter today (May 10), Evil Empire announced that it has delayed the early access release of its roguelite game from May 14 to the end of the month, due to the recent surprise launch of Hades 2 Early access.

“Since everyone and their mom plays this game (including our entire team…and their moms), we decided to let people have fun with it before releasing it. The Rogue Prince of Persia“, the press release said.

“Even though we have every confidence in The Rogue Prince of Persia, it’s not every day that a game of the same genre as you, which is one of the most anticipated upcoming games of 2024, releases in Early Access a week before you plan to do the same. We’re not proud enough to ignore the implications of this, and we truly believe this short delay is the best decision for us and our Early Access journey. »

Evil Empire confirms that the game will still launch this month and will return with another update on Monday, May 13 that will reveal the new release date.

Additionally, the delay also allows the developer to “add even more interesting things” and fix some additional bugs. He explained that the first patch was getting “quite heavy”, so the extra time to test it and had “already reduced the stress level of our producer and game director considerably!”

“We fully understand that this is annoying news to hear for anyone who has been looking forward to playing the game, especially so close to the planned release,” the studio added. “We can only raise our hands, apologize and hope you understand. It will be worth it!”

The Rogue Prince of Persia is about to be released on Steam. In our preview, Hardware Editor Rhys Wood said that the roguelite “shines in the presentation department” and features “a fantastic atmosphere brought about by its vibrant colors, smooth animations, and a wonderful soundtrack that blends a traditional Middle Eastern sound with punchy, electronic percussion.
