Fall Guy star talks about breaking James Bond world record

The scene in question broke a world record – with an ambitious stunt breaking the long-standing record for the most “cannon rolls” in a car, previously set by Casino Royale in 2006.

Stuntman Logan Holladay achieved the extremely impressive feat by landing eight and a half barrel rolls, up from the previous record of seven, and according to star Winston Duke, watching the moment highlighted his appreciation for what stuntmen do.

“We got the world record for the most cannon rolls, that’s true,” he said. “So the Guinness World Record was previously held by Casino Royale for that scene where the car flips over and over – and we beat them.”

He continued, “And seeing it happen with a real person in the car, a real stuntman in the car… and every time because you have to do it multiple times, multiple takes, you flip the car, you crash, the car is useless.

“And he comes out and he goes, well done – you see the importance because this man is potentially not going home if something goes wrong or if someone like fakes something.

“And a lot of times they would say, you know, like we’re going for a record, but if we don’t get it, it’s okay. At the end of the day, everyone just needs to go home safe. this sensitivity which was there every day.

The Fall Guy stars Ryan Gosling as stuntman Colt Seavers, who is lured back onto a film set 18 months after suffering a serious injury – and soon finds himself drawn into a sinister plot as he attempts to regain the affection of director Jody Moreno (Emily Émoussé).

The Fall Guy is released in UK cinemas on Thursday 3 May 2024.
