  • The update brings “Circle to Search”, Live Translate, Chat Assist and Generative Edit from Google.
  • Galaxy AI is now available on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5 and Tab S9 series.

Samsung will begin rolling out its major One UI 6.1 update from Thursday, March 28, which brings its AI software to users based in the United States.

According to a press release, owners of older generation Samsung devices should start preparing to download and install the next update. The Korean OEM says the update is available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5, and Tab S9 series. The update brings these older generation devices closer to the experience of the Galaxy S24 series.

One UI 6.1 integrates the company’s Galaxy AI software, bringing several features to the device. The launch of the update is Google’s “Circle to Search”. Users can search based on anything on their Android device without switching to Chrome or another Google-made app.

Users of older devices can now circle, scribble, highlight, or tap on items in images to find more information through Google Search. Additionally, you can write your own query to guide the search.

Live Translate is another feature brought by One UI 6.1, allowing users to benefit from real-time translations during phone calls.

Samsung’s Chat Assist and Generative Edit are arriving to bring some utility to what Galaxy device owners can use. The first, available through the Samsung keyboard, can help users adjust their “message tone” and translate messages into 13 languages. The arrival of Generative Edit should help users “personalize their photos” with resizing, deletion and other AI tools for image enhancement.

Galaxy AI via One UI 6.1 will begin rolling out on March 28 to the previously mentioned latest generation devices. Samsung says the update will roll out to devices sold by various carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and USCC.

Additionally, devices purchased through Amazon, Best Buy, etc. will also receive the update.

Samsung reiterates in its press release that certain Galaxy AI features, such as Circle to Search, require an Internet connection. The company also informs users that its Galaxy AI features are free, but that it will consider starting charging for them in 2026.
