According to the changelog, Google replaces the name Bard with Gemini. This makes sense since Gemini is the AI model behind Bard. Google unveiled this new powerhouse in late 2023 and spread it across various products, including Bard.

Google also appears to be preparing a paid tier called Gemini Advanced, joining OpenAI’s ranks with free and premium AI robot services. The Advanced tier was announced in December 2023, with the search giant boasting that it would be powered by “Gemini Ultra”, the creme de la creme of Google’s models.

We’ve reached out to Google for a statement and will update this article when we receive a response.

According to the changelog, with Gemini Advanced you get access to Gemini’s Ultra 1.0 model, which excels at difficult tasks like coding, logical reasoning, tricky instructions, and creative collaboration. Launched in more than 150 countries, Advanced will be optimized for the English language from the start.

The changelog also reveals that Gemini Advanced is set to gain additional features, such as “extended multimodal capabilities”, advanced coding support, and the ability to upload and drill down into files, documents , etc. Gemini also spreads its wings to Canada in this version. The service has not been available in this country since its launch.

A Gemini app for Android is also in the works, and Google is touting it as a revolutionary tool with the ability to enhance your learning, help you write thank you notes, and even help you plan events. Plus, Gemini is ready to integrate with your favorite Google services like Gmail, Google Maps, and YouTube.

Google’s changelog indicates that the app will only be available on certain devices. As for language enthusiasts, Gemini will expand support for Japanese, Korean, and English worldwide, excluding the United Kingdom, Switzerland, European Economic Area countries, and their associated territories. But more countries and languages will soon get the Gemini treatment.

If you’re using an iOS device, Google says you could get a taste of Gemini through the Google app for iOS. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it looks like we’re gearing up for a potentially epic week in the world of Google’s AI initiatives.
