Following the third-person multiplayer shooter’s release in February, Arrowhead rolled out almost weekly patches and frequent content updates, some of which made significant adjustments to the game.

While consistent balance fixes can be a good thing, it seems some players aren’t too happy with how the changes are being implemented – often at the expense of “fun” – and game director Johan Pilestedt, agrees (via Eurogamer).

One player in particular liked X/Twitter to tell Pilestedt that the game has become “unfun” for them, even after spending hours in the game. They went on to explain that balance changes over the past few months have made the game “unplayable” and that it’s “sad to see balance changes take precedence over fun.”

In his answerthe game director agreed with the player that Arrowhead may have focused too much on balancing in certain aspects.

“Hey, yeah, I think we went too far in some areas,” Pilestedt said. “I’ll talk to the team about the balance approach. I feel like every time someone finds something fun, the fun is taken away.”

Elsewhere, another user said it felt like every weapon in the game had been nerfed at some point to the detriment of fun, which Pilestedt acknowledged by saying “it’s not a great feeling.”

Arrowhead’s CEO also said in the thread that he saw “a little too much balancing using damage instead of other metrics like recoil, reload speeds, accuracy, speeds projectiles and equipment speeds” and that “simply changing damage numbers is a brutal tool.” .

Helldiverse 2 I just received a huge balance update which saw a nerf bug to burn damage, as well as other adjustments to weapons, stratagems, and enemies.
