How to Create a Memoji on a Mac

Using emojis is a great way to add style and personality to what would otherwise be just a simple text message. But if you are an Apple enthusiast, you can also liven up your discussions with Memojis. Introduced on iOS 12, Memojis are personalized avatars that you create in your image. Choose from numerous clothing, facial hair and other cosmetic filters to personalize your appearance. Once completed, your Memojis can be used with a few iOS apps, including Messages and FaceTime.

Luckily, creating your own Memoji isn’t too difficult. To make the learning curve even easier, we’ve put together this step-by-step guide to help you.

Create a Memoji on Mac

When you create your Memoji on Mac, the little cutie you sync across your devices. So you can use Memoji on an iPhone and iPad in Messages or FaceTime. It all starts in the Messages app.

Step 1: Open messages and select any conversation or start a new one.

2nd step: Click it apps button, which looks like the letter A, and choose Stickers.

Step 3: Click it Plus sign at the top left of the pop-up window.

Step 4: In the next pop-up screen, you will use the tools on the left to customize each part of your Memoji. Apple also gives you detailed options, not just basic skin tones and hairstyles.

For example, you can add freckles or moles to the skin, piercings or an oxygen tube to the nose, and eyeliner or eye shadow to the eyes. You can even age your Memoji with the head tool to make it look older or younger.

When choosing colors for things like hair, eyes, and eyebrows, you can go all the way to the right and choose the color. Palette icon to show more colors. Next, use the slider to adjust the shade of the color you choose.

As you make each selection, you’ll see a preview at the top. This allows you to add features and elements to see what it will look like as you go, and you can choose and customize the elements in any order you want.

Step 5: When you are finished, click Do to save your Memoji.

Edit a Memoji on Mac

Once you create a Memoji, you’re not stuck there forever. Maybe you’ve grown a beard or adopted a new hairstyle. You can edit your Memoji at any time.

Step 1: Open messagesclick it apps and select Memoji stickers.

2nd step: Choose your current Memoji from the pop-up window.

Step 3: Click it Three points at the top right and choose To modify.

Step 4: You will then see your current Memoji with the same tools as before. Simply make your changes and click Do once you have finished.

Use your Memoji

As mentioned, you can use a Memoji in Messages and FaceTime.

In messagesclick it apps button, select Memoji stickers, then choose one of your Memoji’s expressions in the pop-up window. This places it in your message, ready to send.

In FaceTime, you can add a Memoji sticker or use the animated Memoji as a face during a video call. Click it Effects button that looks like a star. Select the Memoji sticker icon to add the sticker to the screen or Memoji icon to use the animated version.

Creating a Memoji is fun, and using it to represent yourself in Messages, FaceTime, or even as your Apple profile picture is a great alternative if you don’t want to use a real photo.
