JoJo Siwa defends her new ‘adult era’ after intense criticism

Did you hear the news? JoJo Siwa has officially entered her new “adult” era, and she just released a song to mark the occasion.

“KARMA,” which you’ve probably already heard in the multitude of teasers JoJo has released in recent weeks, was finally released today (April 5) alongside a music video featuring the star doing what she does better. (Alongside some spicy moments fans have not I’ve seen it done before.)

Even though JoJo is clearly thriving in her new era (and excited about it!), she’s had to deal with some pretty brutal criticism from people in her comment sections. Now, JoJo has responded to the negative comments and pushback.

Describing her new era as a “bad girl,” JoJo opened up about how she hopes to emulate Miley Cyrus. Bangerz time. Talk to Access Hollywood At the iHeartRadio Music Awards, JoJo said, “That’s what I want. She’s my number one idol. I want to do what she did with Bangerz. I want to live in that moment. I’m flattered that the world can even compare that.”

However, these comments were slammed by netizens, comparing her to Miley and criticizing her latest project.

A fan wrote: “JoJo Siwa publicly saying in an interview that she wants to have a name change for the Miley Cyrus Bangerz era is literally the opposite of having a name change for the Bangerz era like it’s already too plotted and inauthentic…”

Others also turned her recent interview into a meme, imitating her responses, as well as her outfit and makeup from the video.

On the other hand, some people like his new song and video. “I’m afraid JoJo Siwa had the best outing of the night. She came and MOTHERED,” one person said wrote. Another added: “WHY did Jojo Siwa actually eat this…I’m afraid she ate too hard”

People also came to his defense, with one person comment: “Let this JoJo Siwa girl LIVE…she’s not even 21 and she’s worn bows in her hair her whole life, she’s still trying to find herself. To her, Karma is rebellious and edgy, so what… anyway, let me go bop.”

Responding to all the comments about her new era, JoJo said AND! News: “People are afraid of things they don’t know. Things can be scary for people. New things can be very, very scary.”

“Creating art is such a special, special thing,” JoJo continued, “and I’m very lucky to be able to be one of the people in the world who can create art.”

Of the positive responses she’s received from people, she added: “The way I’m able to keep going and keep saying, ‘Wait, actually what I’m doing is good,’ is because as some of the most respected people”

“Having support from people like this means the world to me.”
