Who started the TikTok slushie trend?

TikTok’s slushie truck trend has been steadily growing in popularity since January 2024, with countless videos garnering over a million likes. It’s unclear who started this trend, but people attribute it @brett.michaels thanks to a video posted on January 9. (He didn’t throw his slushie at his truck in this video, though.)

Each trending video is set to the song “Bag Season” by Jay Lewis featuring Da Real Gee Money. The videos usually start with someone getting out of their jacked-up truck at the gas station, dramatically opening the store doors before going inside and pouring a large slushy.

As they drive away, they approach their truck and throw the slushy directly at the windshield. The rest of the video then shows off the truck’s features, including rims, tires, and modifications.

It seems you can only participate in the trend if you own a modified truck, especially a “Bubba Truck,” which is one of the trend’s most popular hashtags. But that hasn’t stopped people who don’t have one…

The trend is now extending beyond truck owners, and people are now happy to throw slushies at whatever they drive.

So what does this trend mean? Why do people throw slushies at their trucks?

Well, there doesn’t seem to be any reason behind this. The videos seem to simply serve as a way for people to show off and draw attention to their expensive trucks on TikTok.

Now the trend has gone viral, people are starting to have more fun with their videos and the whole thing has become a meme.

People who don’t own modified trucks are now participating in the trend. From using a stool to pretend to get out of a lifted truck to opening the door and dropping tons of sauce, users are also angry at the way the videos are filmed .

Gas stations have now started posting signs asking people not to throw slushie on their trucks and cars because their employees have to clean up afterwards.
