Sources say Zendaya, who serves as an executive producer on the series, was also able to offer “significant input” on the direction she would like to see the third season take.

Sources say initial scripts for Season 3 included “very compelling” arcs for Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi.

However, HBO reportedly rejected a proposed arc for Zendaya’s Rue after revised scripts were submitted by Sam Levinson. The report claims that Rue was “relegated to the background in a somewhat surprising story about her work as a private detective.”
