Wicked being an adaptation of a popular Broadway musical and Gladiator II Being a sequel to an iconic film doesn’t quite have the same novelty that was promised by Barbie And Oppenheimerbut it could bring the same benefits.

Wicked may still benefit from the Thanksgiving weekend crowd, but it won’t have the same opening weekend pressure in the face of the virtually assured success of Vaiana 2. As dear as Gladiator is, the premise of Gladiator II is always met with skepticism because it won’t star Russell Crowe in his career-defining role from the original film, and will struggle to top its predecessor’s powerful ending. If that skepticism persists, this could be another way for Wicked: Part One has advantages and potentially surpasses the action-packed sequel.
