What did Dr. Disrespect do?

Crushable speed of light

The potential reason for Dr Disrespect’s Twitch ban in 2020 quickly became a trending story online. Forced to address the issue, Beahm initially attempted to dismiss the allegations before issuing a second statement confirming that he had indeed exchanged “inappropriate” messages with a minor via a Twitch messaging feature that has since been shut down.

“Were there any whispered messages on Twitch with a minor in 2017? The answer is yes,” Beahm said. job on his @DrDisrespect account about Elon Musk’s X. “If there were real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely no. These were informal, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much toward the inappropriate.”

Why was Dr Disrespect demonetized on YouTube?

Even though Beahm’s inappropriate behavior with a minor occurred on Twitch, his confirmation of the allegations meant that YouTube now had a legitimate reason to suspend him from the company’s own monetization program.

“Our Creator Responsibility Guidelines make clear that if a creator’s behavior off-platform harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we can take action to protect our community, including suspending monetization,” reads YouTube’s statement on the demonetization of Dr Disrespect’s YouTube channel. “While these behaviors are rare, they can cause widespread harm to the YouTube community and potentially damage trust between creators, users and advertisers. »

It’s unclear how much Beahm will lose as a result of his channel Dr Disrespect being demonetized. Estimates from analytics platform YouTube SocialBlade put the chain’s revenues in the six-figure range per year. However, those estimates do not take into account Beahm’s losses from the loss of exclusive partnership agreements.

Although Beahm claims that Twitch ended up paying him for the partnership agreement the two parties had as part of the settlement, a Rolling stone A report revealed that Beahm had lost a potential similar deal with YouTube.

YouTube’s former head of gaming partnerships, Ryan Wyatt, told the outlet that the company was unable to independently confirm the allegations years ago. But rumors YouTube had heard about Beahm’s inappropriate interactions with a minor led the company to abandon any attempt to partner with the streamer.

We now know that these rumors were true. As a result, Beahm not only lost any type of exclusivity contract with YouTube, but also basic creator monetization on the Dr Disrespect YouTube channel.
