Crown and Priscilla Stars Join Daniel Craig in Knives Out 3, Wake Up Dead Man

The cast for Daniel Craig’s upcoming mystery sequel Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is starting to fill out, with Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny the first to join the project.

In a similar vein to 2019’s Knives Out and 2022’s Glass Onion, the film will see Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc solve another puzzling mystery, with many high-profile names expected to star or appear.

No plot or character details have been revealed yet, but these first two additions hold great promise for the caliber of talent we can expect to see in writer-director Rian Johnson’s twisty comedy-drama.

O’Connor rose to fame in Netflix’s The Crown, where he won an Emmy for his portrayal of young Prince Charles, while he recently gained more acclaim for his knockout performance in the sports relationship drama Challengers.

Spaeny is also coming off a strong run, having recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Priscilla Presley in the hard-hitting Sofia Coppola biopic.

She is also known for her two collaborations with Alex Garland – on his sci-fi series Devs and his recent dystopian film Civil War – and starred alongside Kate Winslet in the HBO mega-hit Mare of Easttown.

The first Knives Out film was a major box office success, starring Craig, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, propelling it to over $300 million worldwide, prompting Netflix to acquire the rights to two suites.

The streamer coughed up $450 million to become the exclusive home of Glass Onion and Wake Up Dead Man, but offered a limited release for the former, as fans demanded.

Filming on Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will begin later this year, with more casting announcements expected in the coming weeks. No release date has yet been set for the sequel.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is coming to Netflix in 2025. Sign up to Netflix from £4.99 per month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass And Blank media stream.
