Obsidian Entertainment, the developer behind the upcoming role-playing game Avowed, is working on improving the upcoming role-playing game‘s combat based on player feedback from January’s Xbox Developer Direct. In an interview with TechRadar Gaming, Declared Senior gameplay engineer Gabriel Paramo explained that the Developer Direct presentation was “really awesome” for the team because it allowed them to learn exactly what needed to be improved for the game.

“When player feedback says, ‘Oh, that doesn’t look great,’ you’re like, okay, we need to prioritize this polish, immediately. So we jumped on that,” explains he said about how fans reacted to the fight.

“We really focused on creature reactions to hits and started really focusing frame by frame. For example, how much delay is there between the player swinging their weapon and when they hit so that it feels really much more lively.

“And [we] really focused on the extreme poses of the starting frame of the hit reaction animations and then also really enhanced the impact of the blood and looking at where that spot came from? Does this make sense, and maybe we should push it a little more so that the player actually notices that there are impact effects that come from these things. “

Paramo also explains that while players haven’t yet seen the bulk of the changes, Obsidian is also working to improve “all aspects of animation,” including visual effects as well as auditory feedback.

Declared doesn’t currently have a release date, but Obsidian is aiming for a “2024” release window, so players should expect it to launch on Xbox series X, Xbox series S, and PC before the end of the year. ‘year. It will also be coming to Xbox game Pass on day one.
