The film will also star Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman and Henry Zaga. Queer will mark Kuritzkes’ second time collaborating with Guadagino, having previously worked together on Zendaya’s new film, Challengers.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com ahead of Challengers’ release, Kuritzkes discussed his next project with director Guadagnino.

“Luca gave me the Queer book while we were filming Challengers and said ‘read it tonight and tell me if you want to write it,’ and I read it that night , and I told him I wanted to write it and I was really honored that he asked me,” Kuritzkes revealed.
However, this film proved to be a new experience for the screenwriter as it was the first time he had adapted the works of another writer, rather than working from his own story.

Comparing the art of adaptation to creating one’s own story from scratch, Kuritzkes noted, “Yes, a really different process, especially with this book, which is a legendary book written by a legendary author, but , uh, unconventional. Unconventional. . This is not a book made for the cinema.”
However, he added: “I can’t wait for people to see this film. I think it’s, you know, I really saw working on this as a sort of, I felt like I was a medium between these two brilliant artists – Luca on the one hand and William S Burroughs on the other – and it was my job, really, to bring them together.
Queer is set to premiere at film festivals later this year, so fans won’t have too long to wait to see this ambitious film.
Fortunately, Guadagnino and Kuritzkes’ first joint work came out much earlier.
