Lindsay Lohan was reportedly “very hurt and disappointed” over a joke that appeared in the new movie Mean Girls.
A joke was removed from the digital version of 2024 mean girls film after Lindsay Lohan personally announced it.
When adapting the mean girls musical in a film, one thing Tina Fey made sure to do was remove all the jokes that had aged poorly. Talk to The New York Times Of the changes, Tina explained: “I was writing in the early 2000s based largely on my experiences as a teenager in the late ’80s. It’s not surprising that the jokes changed.”
However, one joke in the film remained original mean girls star Lindsay Lohan ‘very hurt’ – and she’s now removed.

In the 2024 version of mean girls, The Plastics’ performance at the Winter Talent Show goes viral on social media and many people give their opinions. This includes the real Megan Thee Stallion making an appearance as herself in which she shouts directly at Cady and says, “We’re going back to red. The Y2K fire crotch is back!”
For those who don’t know, the term “fire crotch” has been controversially used to refer to people with red pubic hair and Lindsay was actually called “fire crotch” by Paris Hilton’s friend Brandon Davis, in an article. Paparazzi video from 2006. (Brandon has since said he was “horrified by the words that came out of [his] mouth.”)
Talk to PEOPLE When mean girls debuted in theaters in January, a rep for Lindsay spoke out against Megan’s controversial joke. They said Lindsay was “very hurt and disappointed by the reference in the film.”
Now, fans have noticed that the line is missing from the digital version of Mean Girls available to stream online. Megan’s cameo ends with her words “We’re going back to red” and there is no mention of a “fire crotch”.

Lindsay actually has a cameo in the new mean girls the film too. In the film, she makes an appearance as the moderator of Cady’s infamous math competition.
As it stands, Tina Fey has yet to express Lindsay’s feelings about the joke. However, it appears she privately offered to remove him from the film.
