Fate/stay night Remastered announced, bringing the cult classic visual novel to English for the first time

Developer Type-Moon revealed Fate/Stay Night Remastereda remaster of the long-running first game Fate series which sees it officially published in English for the first time.

Originally released on consoles under the name Destiny/night stay Realta Nua for PlayStation 2 in 2007 (which itself was a greatly improved port of the even older PC game Fate/stay the night) this remaster is based specifically on the later PlayStation Vita version of the title.

It’s set to release on PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch later this year and will feature reworked HD visuals for the first time as well as official support for English and Simplified Chinese.

For those who don’t know the Fate series, it follows the battles between powerful magicians and their familiars for the Holy Grail. Each entry in the series takes place in a parallel world, with elements inspired by various mythological figures. In addition to video games, the franchise has received countless popular anime series and films as well as numerous manga adaptations.

This upcoming remaster will offer players the chance to see where the franchise began. The developer released a short trailer showing some key visuals which you can watch below.

Although you may not have heard of the Fate series, it is extremely popular in Japan and also has a fairly large international following. As a result, a number of fans have taken to social media to express their excitement over the upcoming release.

Fate/stay the night is out on Steam and I can’t ask for more,” says a commentator responding to the game‘s official announcement on Twitter.

“After 20 years, they finally [an] official translation into English,” said another in a quote tweet.

This remaster sounds like fantastic news, whether you’re a long-time fan of the Fate series or a newcomer who simply loves visual novels. As the first installment in the series, this seems like the perfect starting point for those looking to jump on board.
